First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

These two works detail the voyages of Christopher Middleton, a British navigator, William Moor, a British sailor and the cousin of Middleton, and Francis Smith in search of the Northwest passage.

Published by the Hakluyt Society, a publication society founded in 1846, specialising in scholarly editions of records of historic exploration, voyages and geographical primary sources. They produce on average two works a year, with their first series publishing one hundred volumes and the second nearly two hundred.

The second series, volumes 177 and 181 respectively. 

Volume I is illustrated with eleven plates, and Volume II is illustrated with twenty, including maps, plans and illustrations. Collated, complete.

Each complete with an unclipped dust wrapper.

Condition

In the publisher's original full cloth binding with unclipped dust wrappers. Externally lovely. Dust wrappers have a little wear to the edges, but are otherwise in excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
