Illustrated by award winning artist Chris Van Allsburg this book is a hopeful exploration of the world and for the future.

From the library of Tom Maschler and dedicated to him with his bookplate to the front pastedown. Tom Maschler was a noted publisher who headed Jonathan Cape for over three decades. This is significant as this work was published by Jonathan Cape. During his career, he helped to publish and discover works by Ernest Hemingway, Gabriel Garcia Marques, Ian McEwan, Salman Rushdie, Joseph Heller, John Lennon, and many other influential authors. He was also one of the key figures in the creation of the Booker Prize in 1969.

In the publisher's original hardback binding. Externally, excellent. Signed to Regina and Tom Chris Van Allsburg 1992 to the title page.  From the library of Tom Maschler with his bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. In the original unclipped dust wrapper which is also excellent.
