Anne Tyler is a multiple-award-winning, contemporary American author whose novel Breathing Lessons won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1989. Her writing tends to resist easy categorisation, however critics have noted Tyler's recurrent interest in familial and marital relationships. The novels included in this set in particular explore ideas of failure and unfulfillment, the value of hindsight and the passage of time, and the challenges and joys of human relationships.

Condition

All in the original publisher's binding with the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, very attractive with slight bumping to the heads and tails of spines and extremities. Some light rubbing to some of the boards. Some spines are a touch cocked. All of the wrappers have at least some edge wear and signs of rubbing and the odd, very fractional closed tear and chip to the head and tail of their spines. The odd mark, heaviest to the wrappers of 'Grownups', 'Compass', and 'Clock Dance' (in the latter's case, an impression to the wrap has resulted in a mark to the reverse). Sticker reading "As Read on BBC Radio 4' to front of wrapper of 'Grownups'. Internally, all firmly bound with bright, clean pages that are a trifle age toned. Rear first free endpaper stamped with notice of warehouse damage, however fault not obvious. Bookmark loosely inserted to the front of 'A Patchwork Planet'.
