Description

First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Two volumes. First edition, first impression. The first and second novels in the Mr. Dickens Victorian mystery series, a secret journal the author attributes to Wilkie Collins, an English novelist, friend and mentee of Charles Dickens. This set includes: The Detective and Mr. Dickens: Being an Account of the Macbeth Murders and the Strange Events Surrounding Them, 1990. The plot draws Dickens, Collins, and Inspector William Field, one of the first professional detectives, together to solve a murder that has its roots in the Convent Garden production of Macbeth. The Highwayman and Mr. Dickens: Being an Account of the Strange Events of the Medusa Murders, 1992. Our characters reunite to solve a ghastly double murder. The cause of death is uncertain but the suspect is not and notorious highwayman-turned-actor Mr. Thompson is arrested at the scene. Written by William J. Palmer, an American professor of English and the author of the Mr. Dickens series.
