'Matilda' is one of the most iconic children's novels ever written. The magical novel follows Matilda Wormwood, a brilliant young girl who was born to terrible parents. She learns to read at the age of three and half, becoming a precocious child in school, her brilliance recognised only by one teacher, Miss Honey.
In 1996 a film adaptation was produced, directed by Danny DeVito.
Illustrated with in-text illustrations throughout by Quentin Blake. Blake is well beloved for his iconic illustrations of Dahl's novels, the two becoming synonymous.
Dahl is one of the most beloved children's writers of the twentieth century, known for his unsentimental and macabre children's novels, though he wrote extensively for adults too.
