The third printing, originally published in 1985 under the same publisher. 

Beautifully illustrated with monochrome and vibrant full colour vignettes and full page illustrations. 

In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. 

This profusely illustrated work on Indian art and culture was written by Stuart Cary Welch, an American curator of Indian artwork. This work was published in conjunction with the 'INDIA!' exhibition, which was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 1985, and provides a catalogue of the pieces that were displayed there, with descriptions by Welch.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally lovely. The wrap is excellent with only slight marks, fading to the spine and light spotting to the verso. Internally firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages with light spotting to the half title and an ink inscription to the verso of the front free endpaper.
