First edition of Automatic Musical Instruments Their Mechanics and Their Music 1580-1820 by Jan Jacob Leonard Haspels in the original publisher's cloth binding. 

A presentation copy, signed and inscribed by the author to the first free endpaper. Addressed to John Partridge 'with great thanks and special reference to the Partridge-Charles Clay organ clock!'. 

Institution label of Partridge (Fine Arts) Ltd to the first free endpaper, the antique dealer the inscription is addressed to.

A densely illustrated dissertation publication with black and white photography throughout.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth biding and unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent. There is some very slight wear to the extremities of the dust wrapper. To the binding, there are some very light marks to the boards. Presentation inscription in ink by the author to the first free endpaper and institution label. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are very bright and clean.
