Illustrated by artist Anne Velghe, with five double page and eight full page illustrations, accompanied by fourteen vignette illustrations. Of the two prints taken from her original lithographic stone called for, only one is present.
A beautifully illustrated and very scarce signed Limited Edition of this short horror story from Poe, first published in 1849.

Unbound, as issued. Housed in a half calf box, with marbled paper boards. Light rubbing to box board extremities and back strip head, otherwise, externally lovely. Signed and numbered to limitation page, with publisher's blind stamp to title page and limitation page. Pages exceptionally bright and clean. One tissue guard lightly creased to perimeters.
