Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

The first edition of this work, designed and produced by Pentagram. Written and edited by David Gibbs. A beautiful work exploring the architectural history of the Lloyd's building, home of the insurance institution Lloyd's of London. Published in 1986, when the building received Grade I listing after twenty-five years of completion. 

A leading example of radical Bowellism architecture, which places services for the building to the exterior to maximise space in the interior, it is highly regarded as one of the key buildings of modern epoch. 

In seven paper folders containing numerous plates in colour and in black and white looking at the history, architecture, plans, and development of the building. The last folder contains a complete model of the building to re-create. Unbound as called for in the original cloth clamshell box.  

Collated, complete with nine plates to volumes 1 to 6, as well as all parts for the building model.

Condition

Unbound as called for, with the original publisher's full cloth clamshell box. The clamshell box is very smart with only minor shelf wear and a minor soiling to the boards. Seven folders containing numerous loose plates both in colour and in black and white. The leaves of plates and folders are bright and clean. Collated, complete with nine plates to volumes 1 to 6, as well as all parts for the building model.
