What Our Customers Say...
Description
Colour Plates, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
In the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.
Illustrated throughout in colour by American illustrator of children's fantasy books, Michael Hague. Hague is known for his realistic and intricately detailed illustrations of works including The Wind in the Willows, The Wizard of Oz, The Hobbit and the stories of Hans Christian Andersen.
Lewis Carroll (Charles Dodgson) was a mathematician and author credited in this work with creating perhaps the greatest example of literary nonsense. Whilst the work was meant for children - indeed the tale was originally told to a friend's daughter, Alice Liddell - the word play, logic and fantastical have interested and delighted scholars since its publication.
The first UK edition thus, first impression. The first edition of Carroll's work to feature Hague's illustrations.
