A very scarce archive facsimile edition. Limited to 250 subscribed copies, this being number 58. Held institutionally in only three UK libraries. In a handsome half morocco binding with gilt detail. With a frontispiece and thirty-one full page plates, reproduced by a unique screenless process, and printed down individually on a special making of selected paper, each interleaved with tissue. Collated complete. In 1908 Arthur Poley started an 18 year major undertaking of measuring St Paul's Cathedral and of creating the first and only complete set of drawings. For his work, he was awarded the Royal Institute of British Architects' silver medallion. This limited archive edition is a facsimile of Poley's first edition folio of the Cathedral, measured, drawn and described by the author. With a new special foreword by the Dean, Alan Webster alongside an index and list of subscribers. With the publisher's pamphlet, letter and invoice for the previous owner, a subscriber called Mr. R. A. Domb. The half title is present.
In half morocco binding. Externally, excellent with little shelf wear to the edges. Light marks to the boards with some fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean with the odd light handling mark.
