What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated, Pleasing Copy, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

A reissue of one of the greatest maritime exploring expeditions: the voyage of George Vancouver to the North Pacific Ocean and around the world in 1791.

With an introduction and edited by W Kaye Lamb. The first annotated edition of Vancouver's journal. The original manuscript has disappeared, however other logs of journals by other members have survived, supplementing Vancouver's narrative at many points.

The third volume, with chapters on the departure of Lieutenant Broughton for England, progress towards the Sandwich Islands, the fruitless search for the islands of Los Majos, an account of Mr Whidbey's excursion, the arrival in the Observatory Inlet, and plenty more.

A truly fascinating volume, profusely illustrated throughout. With the unclipped dustwrapper.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally lovely with only minor shelfwear and a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. The dustwrapper is unclipped and very smart with only slight shelfwear. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Profusely illustrated throughout.
