A fine copy of this work celebrating the bawdy satire of Georgian caricaturist Thomas Rowlandson, with fifty colour plates to the rear. Noted for his political satire and social observation, Rowlandson was a household name in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries producing individual satires, as well as illustrations for novels and humorous books. William G. Smith provides a biographical and critical introduction to the draughtsman, before fifty colour plates of his erotica. Found in the unclipped dust wrapper.

Condition

In the publisher's original maroon cloth binding, found in the unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, lovely. With a tape repair and some light spotting to the reverse of the wrap. Internally, firmly bound, with bright and clean pages throughout.
