Limited edition of three hundred and fifty copies, of which this is number one hundred and fifty eight. Signed 'From Cynthia and Victor' to the colophon. Cynthia was the author's (Victor Bonham-Carter) second wife, whom he married in 1979. Illustrated throughout with woodcut illustrations by Hellmuth Weissborn. Revised edition. First published in 1946 by Allan Wingate Ltd. This charming work offers a look at a variety of wild flowers with appropriate poetry from poets such as Izaak Walton, John Milton and Robert Bridges. Victor Bonham-Carter was an English author, publisher and farmer who wrote prolifically on a range of subjects including military history, the countryside and agriculture. His father was General Sir Charles Bonham-Carter, the Governor of Malta.

Condition

In a coarse linen binding with pictorial detail to the front board. Externally in excellent condition with just some light handling marks to the boards. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Signed by Victor Bonham-Carter to the colophon.
