'Burne-Jones Talking' is a collection of conversations and dialogue that the artist's studio assistant witnessed from 1895 to 1898. It is prefaced with an apology from the assistant, T. M. Rooke, who says '...no excuse I hope needed for this attempt to preserve the sayings of an artist all of whose friends hope and believe may remain always interesting to the world'.

Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898) was an artist who was associated with the Pre-Raphaelite movement. He was closely associated with the works of William Morris, and was a founding partner with him for their company Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co.
