Five volumes. First edition. Written by William Golding, a British novelist, playwright, and poet who was awarded the 1983 Nobel Prize in Literature. He is best known for his novel Lord of the Flies. This set includes: A Moving Target, 1982. A collection of short non-fictional pieces centred on 'Places' and 'Ideas', containing philosophical and critical reflections to some of his own novels. The Paper Men, 1984. Wilfred Barclay is a novelist in a dead marriage, with the incurable itches of middle-ages lust, and a border-line alcohol addiction. But the most unbearable irritation in his life is Professor Rick L. Turner. William Golding: The Man and His Books. A Tribute on His 75th Birthday, 1986. A view of the man behind the novels, with personal recollections and biographical sketches of the author. Edited by John Carey, a British literary critic and Professor of English Literature at the University of Oxford. Close Quarters, 1987. Following on from Rites of Passage, this novel explores Talbot's point of view as he meets a young woman on a different ship. The Double Tongue, 1995. Found in draft form after his death and published posthumously, this novel tells the story of the Pythia, the priestess of Apollo at Delphi.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original dust wrappers are all unclipped other than A Moving Target which is price-clipped. Dust wrappers are very smart with light shelf wear. A small crease to the front flap of Close Quarters. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
