This work is intended as a critical biography of the painter William Dyce , a Scottish painter who played an enormous role in the formation of public art education in the United Kingdom. Additionally, he was part of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, and was inspired by their ethos as well as their aesthetic ideals. With a preface from art historian Quentin Bell (1910-1996), nephew of Virginia Woolf. Marcia Pointon is an art historian who has spent time as Art History professor throughout Northern England.
