The majority of the text of this work is a facsimile of the handwritten manuscript of Darwin's journal onboard the Beagle, produced from the hand-written original held by the The Royal College of Surgeons.
Illustrated with four sepia plates, and a frontispiece. Collated, complete.
In the publisher's original quarter calf binding, and slip case.

Condition
In the publisher's original half calf binding with gilt detailing, and corresponding cloth covered slip case. Externally, exceptional, with light rubbing to the top raised band of the back strip, and a minor fold in the back strip centre. Slip case in fine condition. Internally, firmly bound. Plates clean and bright.
