Reprint of the original 1889 work. Highly illustrated throughout with frontispiece, many in text illustrations, and two coloured maps (one of which folds out). This work explores life with Aboriginal tribes around Queensland, Australia, including their domestic life, hunting, appearances, love, festivities, burials, and religion. Written by Carl Sofus Lumholtz, a Norwegian explorer and ethnographer, best known for his field research and publications on indigenous cultures of Australia and Mexico.

Condition

In the original green cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with light shelf wear to the extremities and minor bumping to the spine. Original unclipped dust wrapper also very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
