A series of extracts selected from the diaries of Francis Kilvert, an English clergyman whose dairies reflected rural life in the 1870s, and were published over fifty years after his death.
With ten distinct illustrations in colour that bring the diary's descriptions to life, completed in watercolour. Artist John O'Connor, today best known for his woodcuts, was educated between the wars at the Royal College of Art in London under John Nash and Edward Bawden.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. With light shelf wear and marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with the author's inscribed name to the colophon.
