A stunning uniform facsimile edition of Samuel Johnson's A Dictionary of the English Language, to this day remaining one of the most famous dictionaries in the history of the English language for its attention to detail and its massive scholarly achievement, being a more extensive and complex dictionary than any predecessors, listing forty-thousand words. The dictionary took only over eight years to compile, and required the contributions of six helpers and forty scholars.

Containing a preface by Robert Burchfield, Chief Editor of The Oxford English Dictionaries. 

Handsomely bound in half morocco by Paul C. Delrue.
