A facsimile reprint of the original 1885 edition. A fascinated and detailed study into the history of British medallions. Each medallion is described in detail, with the legends being given, as well as information on the errors of the engravers. The work looks from ancient history up to the death of King George II. Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, and many in-text illustrations. Volume II illustrated with a frontispiece, and many in-text illustrations. Compiled by Edward Hawkins, an English churchman and academic. Edited by Augustus W. Franks and Herbert A. Grueber.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. A few light marks to the boards and spine. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities of Volume II. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
