From the library of Tom Maschler with a bookplate to the front pastedown. Tom Maschler was a noted publisher who headed Jonathan Cape for over three decades. During his career, he helped to publish and discover works by Ernest Hemingway, Gabriel Garcia Marques, Ian McEwan, Salman Rushdie, Joseph Heller, John Lennon, and many other influential authors. He was also one of the key figures in the creation of the Booker Prize in 1969.

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, lovely. Signed to the frontispiece and hand illustrated by the illustrator to the title page. From the library of Tom Maschler with a bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. In the original unclipped dust wrapper which is also lovely.
