Illustrated throughout with 146 images on 74 plates. Collated complete. The work of Giovanni Battista Piranesi, an Italian classical archaeologist, architect, and artist, famous for his etchings of Rome and of fictitious and atmospheric "prisons." Written and collected by Arthur Mayger Hund, a British art historian and curator who specialized in old master prints, and was Keeper of the Department of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum until he retired in 1945.

Condition

In the original green cloth binding. Externally excellent. Original unclipped dust wrapper, very smart with light shelf wear and one small closed tear to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
