First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
Held in original, unclipped dustwrapper. The flyleaf notes that Shaw recalls being a young writer and the difficulty of the Parisian character, the delightful and peculiar rituals of French life. Searle provides four 'portfolios' of his spectacular satiric work. These provide 'the perfect visual counterpoint - the Paris of raggedy clochards, transported lovers, le Grand Charles, revolutionaries in the great boulevards, the Paris of today.' Ronald Searle was a British artist and satirical cartoon artist. He created the famous St Trinian's School and collaborated with Geoffrey Willans on the Molesworth series. Searle received many critical recognition for his work especially in America.
