With the inscription 'To Charles with all good wishes from Richard Adams, Kensington, 18th October 1978' to the verso of the half title.
Illustrated with sixteen full colour reproductions of watercolour paintings and numerous in-text sketches by John Lawrence, and with a folding map to the rear by Marilyn Hemmett. Collated, complete.
Richard Adams' classic tale of survival follows a small group of rabbits as they escape the destruction of their warren and seek a place to build a new home. Watership Down won the Carnegie Medal and Guardian Prize and was adapted into an animated film by Martin Rosen in 1978.

In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding, with paper covered boards. In unclipped dust wrapper, with paper and cloth covered slip case. Externally, fine. Dust wrapper in exceptional condition, as is slip case. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Inscribed to verso of half title.
