First UK edition of The Art of Easter Island by Thor Heyerdahl in the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. 

Densely illustrated with fifteen colour plates and 330 monochrome plates. Collated, complete. 

Thor Heyerdahl was a Norwegian adventurer and ethnographer.

This work deals with art history of this remote island off of chile best known for its archaeological sites including nearly nine hundred moai, large stone human figures, created during the thirteenth to sixteenth centuries. 


Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart. There is some wear to the extremities of the dust wrapper, including a small tear to the head of the spine, a mark to the front, and some general light marks. To the binding, there is some light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There is some light spotting to the fore edge. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are very bright and clean.
