Naipaul's novel set on an unnamed, remote Caribbean island that's populated by a mixed of ethnicities. Though a diverse island, they've found themselves dominated by post-colonial British.
This island was most likely modelled after Naipaul's birthplace of Trinidad.

In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, fine. Dustwrapper is lightly discoloured with some minor marks. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
