'A Word Child' is the 17th novel by Iris Murdoch. It charts the trials and tribulations of the title character, Hilary Burde. Alike to many of Murdoch's novels, thematically this work deals with redemption, the nature of human memory and the possibility of love for the tarnished soul. Iris Murdoch was a British novelist and philosopher, born in Ireland. Primarily her novels focus on themes of morality, spirituality and sexuality. A prominent philosopher, she is now increasingly accredited for her work in the field of philosophy, most notably her work on the reinterpretation of Aristotle and Plato, as well as her discussions of moral philosophy. In her lifetime Murdoch wrote 26 novels, as well of a series of short stories and several philosophical papers.

Condition

In the original cloth binding and held in original price-clipped dustwrapper. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Dustwrapper is also in an excellent condition with just some minor shelfwear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
