Publishers' Original Binding

The DNB is a standard reference work providing short biographies of notable figures from British history. It was first published in 1885 and has been updated for years to come. The database is now online and revised frequently. Volume I comprises of the main DNB from, Abbadie-O'Donnell, Volume II comprises of the Main DNB from O'Donnell to Zuylestein and supplement 'Twentieth Century DNB 1901-1960'. The vast work is available over these two volumes by having images of the original dictionary compressed to a smaller size, allowing for twelve images per page.

Condition

In uniform cloth bindings with gilt stamping to spines. Externally, very smart with minor shelfwear to the head and tail of spines and to the extremities. Front hinge to both volumes are slightly strained but firm. Title page to volume I is creased slightly. Prior owner's bookplate to the front pastedown of both volumes, R G Booth. Internally, both volumes are firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout.
