First edition, first printing. With sixteen plates and a family tree Susan Chitty was a well known fashion writer and television personality who also wrote and edited novels. Charles Kingsley was a novelist, Church of England priest and social reformer. A friend of Charles Darwin, he is perhaps best remembered for his children's novel The Water Babies.

Condition

Rebound in a beautiful green crushed morocco binding with green and blue pattered boards. Externally, in excellent condition with some very light rubbing. Bookplate removed to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
