A very scarce, limited edition work, with this being number 252 of 700 copies produced. With the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.

An account of the Californian mountain adventures of John Muir, a Scottish-American naturalist sometimes termed 'John of the Mountains' and the 'Father of the National Parks'. Muir was an early advocate for the preservation of wilderness in the United States.

This works includes Muir's account of his 1874 encounter with Mount Shasta, and his descriptions of the California mountains.

With the blind stamp of prior owner Russell Dean Evans to the title page tail. 

With monochrome illustrations throughout, and a map to the rear endpapers.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. In the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Dust wrapper lightly age toned do back strip, with minor closed tear to head of rear wrap. Light handling marks to wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Blind stamp to title page tail. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
