The fourth edition of this book In a fine half morocco binding with cloth covered boards. The author's own copy of this book, with his signature to the title page and a gift inscription to one of the loosely inserted business cards addressed 'John, Merry Christmas, Tom'. The business cards are for the editor-in-chief and vice president director of the publishing company for this book, Holt, Reingart and Winston. The cards belong to Thomas C Wallace and Aaron Asher. John Prebble was an English journalist, documentarian, novelist and popular historian. He wrote several fictional works although is best known for his works on Scottish history. The stories to this volume are 'My Great-aunt Appearing Day', 'The Regulator', 'Almighty Voice', 'Spanish Stirrup' and 'The Long Hate'.

In a half morocco binding with cloth covered boards. Externally excellent with minor shelfwear. Internally, firmly bound. Author's signature to the title page. Business cards for the editor-in-chief and Vice President Director for Holt, Rinehart and Winston Inc. loosely inserted with 'John, Merry Christmas Tom' written to Thomas C Wallace's card. Pages are generally bright and clean throughout.
