Signed to the title page, with the inscription 'For Stephen and Gloria with Brigid's love', referring to fellow writer Stephen Vizinczey.

Brigid Brophy was a british author and critic who was also an influential campaigner for social reform, including for vegetarianism, animal rights and equality.

This interesting biographical work explores the life of English novelist Ronald Firbank, who was known for his eight short novels, inspired by London in the 1890s. Brophy seeks to highlight Firbank's role in bringing fiction forward at the time, as well as presenting the highly enjoyable nature of his work.

From the library of Hungarian-Canadian author Stephen Vizinczey, best known for his 'In Praise of Older Women', and 'An Innocent Millionaire'. His writing was praised by the likes of Graham Greene and Anthony Burgess, describing his fiction as social epics which breathe hope in a corrupt world.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, lovely, with minor shelf wear only. Dust wrapper is slightly worn, with a few closed tears and tape repairs to the extremities. Larger tear to the head of the front board. The odd mark to the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with the author's inscription to the title page.
