The eight impression. First published in the US in 1957 by the Viking Press, this is the eighth impression of the UK edition, which was first published by Andre Deutsch in 1958. In the scarce price clipped dust wrapper. A generation defining novel, based on the travels of Kerouac and his friends across the United States, against a back drop of drug use, jazz and poetry. First published in the US in 1957, On the Road is considered a defining work of the post-war Beat and Counterculture generations. With many key figures of this movement - William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg and Neal Cassady - represented as characters within the work.

Condition

In the original red cloth binding in the original price clipped dust wrapper. Externally smart with creasing to the spine. Evidence of tape removal to boards. Ex library stamps and withdrawal to endpapers. Dust wrapper is worn with loss to the extremities and front wrap. Small tape repair to the extremities and reverse of the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright with occasional ink annotation and marginal age toning.
