The first novel in J. G. Farrell's 'Empire Trilogy' set in the midst of the political upheaval of the Irish War of Independence.
Farrell later followed this novel with 'The Siege of Krishanpur' and 'The Singapore Grip'.
In 2010 this novel was awarded the Lost Man Booker Prize, as in 1970 the rules for the Booker Prize changed.
Condition
In the original publisher's paper covered boards, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, fine. Tape repairs to the reverse of the dustwrapper, with light edgewear. A few minor marks to the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
