Spark's novella, published at arguably the peak of her literary career, follows a young woman named Lise, and her perplexing desire to find her murderer in an unnamed Southern European city. 

This work has been adapted both for the stage by the National Theatre of Scotland, and for the screen in a 1974 film adaptation starring Elizabeth Taylor and Andy Warhol.

In the original cloth binding. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent with minor shelf wear and small marks to the boards. Dust wrapper is in very smart condition with slight edge wear only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
