Dickey's novel follows four businessmen from Atlanta who venture into the remote northern Georgia wilderness to see the Cahulawassee River before it is dammed, only to find themselves in danger from the local inhabitants of the area.
In 1972, it was adapted into John Boorman's Academy Award nominated film of the same name, starring Burt Reynolds and Jon Voight.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent. Small closed tears to dust wrapper back strip head, with light edgewear to back strip tail. Three small closed tears to head of front wrap, with another to the tail of the rear wrap. Small areas of light rubbing to front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
