Five issues of the very scarce journal 'Communes', subtitles 'Journal of the Commune Movement'.

A very scarce journal, with only four copies recorded on Jisc.

This set includes the issues: Number 34 for September 1970, Number 35 for December 1970, Number 38 for June 1972, Number 39 for August 1972, Number 40 for October 1972. 

'Communes' relates many aspects of communal living, which gained in popularity in the 1970s hippy communities. 

Contributions include 'Not an Escape but a Confrontation' by Ei Fu, 'Copenhagen Commune' by Jorgen Jorgensen, 'Fish-Farming Communes' by Dave Stringer, 'City Vegetables' by Sarah Eno, and more.

Each issue is illustrated throughout, with illustrations by Pat Blackmore, Tony Kelly, John Stevenson, Tim White, Helen Williams, and more.

Condition

In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally, smart. A few very light marks to the wraps. Minor edge wear to the wraps of Numbers 38 and 39. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
