The first edition of this work. A reproduction of the Trés Riches Heures of Jean, Duke of Berry, one of the most popular Illuminated Manuscript of the late phase in the International Gothic style, created for the Duke of Berry. The original copy is held at the Musée Condé in Chantilly. With introduction and legends by Jean Longnon and Raymond Cazelles. A book of hours, with prayers for the canonical hours. Original illustrations by the Limbourg brothers, who died in 1416 and left the volume unfinished. It was embellished later by an anonymous painter, and finally curated by the artist Jean Colombe on behalf of the Duke of Savoy. 

Collating complete with one hundred and thirty nine stunning coloured plates, in the original slipcase.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding, with titles stamped in gilt to spine. Externally lovely. Slipcase is excellent with only minor shelfwear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Collating complete with one hundred and thirty nine colour plates.
