The diaries of Francis Kilvert, dating from 1870 to 1879.

Kilvert was an English clergyman, his diaries well reflecting rural life in Britain during the 1870s. During this period he was a vicar at Llanigon, St Harmon, and Bredwardine.

Volume I contains diaries from 1st January 1870 to 19th August 1871; Volume II contains diaries from 23rd August 1871 to 13th May 1874; Volume III contains diaries from 14th May 1874 to 13th March 1879.

Condition

In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards, in the original unclipped dustwrappers. Externally, smart. A few spots to the fore edges. Dustwrappers are lightly discoloured with minor marks and edgewear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
