Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

The first edition, first impression, in the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.

At a children's halloween party, a young girl claims she once witnessed a murder. When she is later found drowned in an apple-bobbing bucket, Hercule Poirot and Ariadne Oliver investigate both the child's murder, and the crime she claims to have once witnessed.

The novel includes much reference to anxieties around the British criminal justice system, reflecting the 1965 abolition of capital punishment for murder.

Kenneth Branagh adapted the novel into a film in 2023, retitling it 'A Haunting in Venice'.
