First edition. With a tipped in typed card which reads "With the compliments of Geoffrey Hellman", dated Dec '68 by hand. Illustrated with eighteen images across sixteen plates. Collated complete. Written with wit and affectionate irreverence, this book provides an anecdotal history of the remarkable men who have been associated with the greatest natural history museum in the world. A celebration of the American Museum of Natural History, New York. Written by Geoffrey Hellman, an American professor and philosopher.

Condition

In the original quarter black cloth binding with blue cloth boards. Externally, very smart with minor fading to the board edges. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also very smart with light wear and minor sunning to the extremities. Sympathetic reinforcement made to the internal side of the wrapper with tape to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
