    First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

    A first edition of Allen T. Hazen’s catalogue of Horace Walpole’s library, identifying almost every printed piece at Strawberry Hill.

    Walpole was an English writer, art historian, antiquarian and politician who is known for his personal letters, which are of significant social and political interest. To understand them fully, Hazen believes one must know his library, to which many of his letters allude.

    3 Volumes, complete.

    Volume 1 containing numerous illustrations.

    Condition

    In original publisher’s cloth binding, with price clipped dust wrapper. Some light markings and finger prints to the dust wrapper. Very light wear to the extremities and some worming (?) to the extremities of the dust wrapper of Volume 3, particularly to the edge of the front flyleaf. Small tear to the bottom of the front flyleaf of Volume 3. Internally, firmly bound. Very light mark to the top of contents page of Volume 3 (page v). Otherwise, pages are bright and clean.
