What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, Illustrated

Second edition. Originally published in 1967. 1 of 30,000 copies. Includes both of the original separate free standing figures. Illustrated by Vojtěch Kubašta, a Czech architect and artist, who designed three-dimensional cards to advertise porcelain, sewing machines and pencils. In 1956, he designed his first fairy tale pop-up book: Little Red Riding Hood. Kubašta's decorative nativity creche sets began through construction sheets collected as inserts into a Czech magazine as Christmas decorations. This lively and colorful crèche captures the atmosphere of a rural central European town and features children delivering gifts including fish, music, toys and baked goods to the newborn Christ.

Condition

Accordion opening standing display. Excellent condition. The odd mark to deeps folds. Small closed tears to moveable door hinges, center Joseph character at fold and right hand opening tab. The odd crease to building roofs and light scattered spotting to extremities. Additional standing pieces have a slight bend to top star and small closed tear to inside fold. Overall, lovely condition.
