1968 People's Nativity
What Our Customers Say...
Description
Colour Plates, Illustrated
Second edition. Originally published in 1967. 1 of 30,000 copies. Includes both of the original separate free standing figures. Illustrated by Vojtěch Kubašta, a Czech architect and artist, who designed three-dimensional cards to advertise porcelain, sewing machines and pencils. In 1956, he designed his first fairy tale pop-up book: Little Red Riding Hood. Kubašta's decorative nativity creche sets began through construction sheets collected as inserts into a Czech magazine as Christmas decorations. This lively and colorful crèche captures the atmosphere of a rural central European town and features children delivering gifts including fish, music, toys and baked goods to the newborn Christ.
