In this novel, Mike Bond has inherits an insolvent bank, and fears what will happen if the truth is discovered. He needs someone to rob the bank so that the examiners will not know much money was there originally. As it happens, Mike's new butler, Horace Appleby, is the leader of a gang of burglars.

A wonderful first edition from the prolific twentieth century humourist.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. A touch of shelf wear to back strip tail, otherwise externally fine. Minor discolouration to dust wrapper back strip and head of front wrap. Two small closed tears repaired to dust wrapper reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
