An exciting copy of this English translation of Bagus Umbara, a Balinese poem narrating the story of a Prince of Bali and a Princess of Java.

A story taken from a palm-leaf manuscript of comparatively recent date in the Department of Oriental Printed Books and Manuscripts of the British Museum, consisting of twelve strips of palm leaf, ten of which are inscribed with Balinese script on one side and a incised drawings illustrating the story on the other. Complete in itself. 

A facsimile in colour of the original Balinese manuscript on palm-leaf embellishes this volume.

With an introduction and explanations by Dr. C. Hooykaas, who also offered the translation. 

With the Balinese text to accompany the English translation.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. internally, firmly bound. the pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with a coloured facsimile of the original Balinese manuscript.
