A complete two volume set of Farthest North in the First Greenwood reprinting in 1968. This account was first published in 1897 following Nansen's triumphant return from Norway.
Farthest North is a record of a voyage of exploration of the ship 'Fram' 1893-1896 and of a fifteen months' sleigh journey by Dr. Nansen and Lieut. Johansen.
The volumes are highly readable, with aspects of their daily lives captured as well as descriptions of hunting bears, observing auks, and gazing at the Northern Lights.
With two folding maps to the front and one to the rear of volume I and eight plates.

In the publisher's original brown cloth binding. Externally, smart with some very light marks to the spine. Internally firmly bound with bright and clean pages. In the original unclipped dustwrappers which are very smart with just some light marks to the spines and wraps.
