Volume I and II are reprints, published in 1969, the year after the first editions. Volume IV is a first edition, published in 1968. This set is lacking volume III.
This collection is comprised of selected essays, journalism and letters by popular author George Orwell. Edited by his second wife, Sonia Orwell, and Ian Angus.
Volume I, 'An Age Like This' covers Orwell's writings between 1920 and 1940. Volume II, 'My Country Right or Left', presents work from 1940 to 1943. Volume IV, 'In Front of Your Nose', contains Orwell's collected writings from 1945 to his death in 1950.
With a frontispiece to each volume.
Condition
In the publisher's cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, lovely, with light shelf wear and the odd handling mark. Dust wrapper's are excellent, with light shelf wear and sunning to the spine. The occasional mark to the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
