    First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

    The first edition of this work, selected and introduced by Peter Haining. An anthology featuring brilliant tales of terror written by female authors during the Victorian era. Comprising thirteen stories, including a tale by Mary Shelley, and other stories by authors such as Mrs Oliphant, Mrs Gaskell, Mary Ann Evans, and Gertrude Bacon among others. 

    With the unclipped dust wrapper.

    Condition

    In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally excellent with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, some minor chipping to the extremity of the front board. The dust wrapper is unclipped and generally smart with minor shelf wear, some minor puncture mark to the front fly leaf. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean.
